Report from Baja

Hey Uncle Richard-

What’s going on? I pray this finds you and the family and the Church of Our Lord very well. I suppose the weather there is truly grueling by this date. Even we, perched on the Pacific Coast are feeling summer in its earnest heat. I can see a line of cars, antlike, down on the highway headed towards the Bufadora. Although, we have not seen Northamerican tourists in the usual number, the heat in Sonora and Chihuaha have driven vacationing Mexicans into our area. The people who rely principally upon the tourist trade are scrambling to make up what they have lost this year due to the implementation of martial law.

Five more days to election day….the advertisements have taken a tone very familiar to any American, everyone is “tough on crime” and determined to, if elected of course, “incarcerate the delinquent and dangerous element of society made up by drug abusers.” One candidate’s ad starts out showing a fellow in typical gang dress holding a woman at gunpoint. The image is gritty and the candidate goes on about the insecurity and fear that law abiding citizens live in, as they pan out to close the shot, curiously the guy who was dressed as a gang member is now dressed as a student. I had seen this particular ad many times before I actually caught that subliminal trick. Pass the laws to deal with the delinquents, use the laws to arrest and incarcerate the unruly, the people who dare to protest. It is indeed a slippery slope.

But why do I prattle on about that?? I don’t know! I have so much GOOD NEWS to report!

The Lord has come thru in so many ways, UR.

First of all , I have to thank God for another year of life. On the 25th, I turned 41. Wow. Never thought I would be “that old.” Now I know it is not so “old” after all! I still easily hearken to the days when I didn’t trust anyone over 25.

I got an amazing gift. Early the morning of my birthday, (7am-won’t fib that is early to me as I have never been a “morning” person) the phone rang. Marilu caught the call. I listened to a short one –sided conversation. Marilu hung up and said, “Mama, I need to go get Daddy at the Church and FAST because the generator guy is ON HIS WAY.” I am like what? Still rubbing sleep out of eyes still between dreaming and waking. We don’t have the money to pay a mechanic right now, I am thinking-not to mention I have caught wind of a plot afoot to surprise me for my birthday by taking me to the beach it would be our first family trip to the beach this year. As I roll out of bed and stumble towards coffee ( that reminds me..thank you Glenda! Glenda Cooke in Oceanside blessed us with a two months supply of coffee last week. The exact same coffee 52 oz is $99pesos here. Approx. $10 US. For a can of beans. Praise God!) anyway I was stumbling towards coffee, thinking, “Why did Frank have a guy come out today of all days?” I mean he is working all day at the church , the kids are plotting a celebration….hmmm.” To make a long story short, sure enough, not ten minutes after the phone call a guy in a white truck shows up asking where the generator to be fixed is. By now, Marilu has taken off to get her Daddy. I know we are down to one generator and I know that the big diesel is the most useful so I dubiously point the guy towards the generator shed, thinking he’s probably not a diesel mechanic, he probably just came to pick up the small one that has been frozen for some time now, but not nearly as long as the big one which hasn’t breathed since one of our Vietnam Combat Vets took it apart last year then impulsively left for Anchorage. Bless his heart.

By the time Marilu returned with her Daddy, Ramon, Marcial and this stranger who is totally bi-lingual are elbows deep into the Chinese generator. Marilu is visibly upset that her birthday plans have apparently been thwarted.

Francisco , under the pressure of some self imposed deadline to get the cabinets put in at the building, looks positively steamed. We are both still under the impression that the other called a diesel mechanic, but both of us are wondering silently,“Why today?” We didn’t have to wonder for too long. 14 minutes after his arrival, the mechanic has our big generator chugging smoothly, running as smooth as a brand new car. It has not cranked in so long that some pictures I had recently hung, actually popped off the wall when it started! All of us are excited that it is running! We can take real showers again! No more bucket-baths! You see, the diesel is the only generator we have that can pull the pump that brings water into the house. We can wash dishes in a normal fashion and running water is available now! We are all talking and being amazed at this guys evident talent, when we finally turn to settle accounts with him, no more than 5 minutes after he had it started and he is GONE. With not even a puff of dust to mark his trail. What the heck? “So where did you find this guy?” I exhuberantly ask my husband.

“What?”, he answers. “I didn’t call him.” It takes just a minute to confirm that none of us called him. Not in the conventional manner, anyway.

As I puzzled over this, Holy Spirit nudged me. “Remember?”, He says, “ What did you say yesterday?” OH, MAN! It hit me. The day BEFORE, as I was taking a bath with cold water from a bucket hauled up those long stairs, I HAD SAID, VERBATIM, “Lord if I want anything for my birthday, it would be to have that big generator running again.” God is so good and He cares so much about us and He hears every WORD we speak and He ACTS upon OUR WORDS. Think me a fanatic, a weirdo, whatever- He actually sent an angel to fix our generator. No other explanation folks. So I just have to Praise Him!

You all might think it is not a big miracle but to us it is. Think about how much you utilize running water- that generator is our only means to make that water RUN. It changes our quality of life. Eliminates being WORRIED about the last generator giving it up and leaving us in candlelight! We couldn’t afford to fix it. By Wednesday morning we were down to $100 to our name, plus $23 in the bank. Every time we repair a generator we pay at least $2,000pesos. ($200US) Praise the Lord! What a gift! To have the love of my Daddy confirmed in such a way. The Lord of the Universe took time out on my birthday to give me a gift. My earthly Dad didn’t even call or email me but GOD HIMSELF did better. The most amazing thing about the whole situation is my state of mind when I asked for this gift, people. Literally naked before him. Absolutely NOT in the midst of a “religious” activity. In the shower, He heard me. Although having that generator running is awesome, it is not the true gift that I received. I have to say I received Faith- my faith and the faith of my family was boosted in a big way. Then, LOVE- the affirmation that I am loved by the Lord of Lords. There is a truth here, folks, a truth of special importance. The truth is that Our God-Yahweh- has given us His Word, that Word tells us to pray without ceasing. To ask in Jesus’ Name, to keep seeking until we find. These things are real and they work. Your face does not need to be screwed up into an intent religious prune to be heard by God. He is listening ALL of the time. Just waiting on us to say the words he needs to hear for Him to act.

I have another miracle to report. On that day, my birthday, too much had to be done to allow for a trip to the beach. So we set out late Thursday, after the cabinets were in, to catch a couple of hours at the beach. The family including the dog were all piled into the car, sweating, only to find it won’t start. Frustrated, we finally change vehicles and leave, disappointed by the late hour. Lost in my frustration, I did not recognize the people in the Volkswagen flagging us down at the intersection of our dirt road to the main road. By now, I don’t really want to go, I know the kids are going to want a soda or something and this time of month we are stretched thin financially. Real thin. I refuse to be afraid this time. We have water, we have a weeks worth of food, the Lord WILL provide, I say over and over under my breath. “Mom, those people are waving at US. Who are they?”, asks Ramon. I take a better look. It is a couple with three kids crammed into an old vw bug, luggage strapped to the roof. My brain fumbles around to place the faces- it is Janeth Jimenez and family, they had come up to the mission base one time last year, they were lost looking for a place to camp. We stopped and spoke, they are a sweet Christian family, she is a schoolteacher, he works at AM/PM in Escondido CA. They are leaving town for home having spent a week on vacation here. She had an urge to see us. We exchange email and phone numbers which I stick in the glove box. We say our goodbyes. Arriving at the beach, really late by now, Marilu asks me if I want to leave the money in the glove box. What money? Daddy has all of it. No, mom, the money that lady gave you. WHAT? I open the glove box and on top of the paper containing the lady’s email addy is a crisp $100 bill. Praise God again! Come on! Lord, bless them. Again we are all jumping around in a praise fit. How can you help it?

We all walk towards an empty spot on the sand and as we walk I hear a clink and look down at my hand, the left one, the one that HAD BEEN holding the keys. Oh, NO! They are gone. The keys somehow slipped out of my hand. That was the clink I had heard. I look dismally back at the hundred or so yards of sand between the van and us. Somewhere in that expanse now lie my keys. I walk it twice desperately searching. Everyone is searching. After an hour of frantic useless searching we realize we can’t ever find the keys for the sand has apparently swallowed them. Francisco prays and looses angels to get them in Jesus’ Name. We have a spare key, but the church keys are gone for good it seems. Just a minute after he prays, I notice our basically useless little mutt digging in the sand. Maybe he’s looking for the keys, I think sarcastically. Not 5 minutes later, Marilu hollers, “He found the keys! The dog found the keys!” Now I know that dog isn’t that darn smart so I am praising the Lord again. He never ceases to amaze me! These might seem like such minor things, but these are the things that when strung together, make up our days and nights. Small things, when touched by God become so WONDERFUL to me.

My attitude at 41 is different than it was at 40. In a 24 hour period the Lord has touched our lives in such a way as to make me much more aware of His tender mercies, much more grateful and much more eager to please my Father.

I hope this encourages you. I truly do, because Yahweh wants to be involved so obviously in everyone’s daily life, know He does. Nothing is too big or small for Him to touch.

This is running long, but I must go on a bit more.

I want to report on the growth of our indigenous community and on the doors that the Lord continues to open, even upon the doors that He keeps closed.

Although Francisco has asked, we are not sure exactly what is happening to cause the huge influx of Oaxcan peoples to our area. The new ones are so shy. Their dialects are more undecipherable, their ways more exotic. Like worker bees they continue to flock to the recently built yurts between the greenhouses. These people are not into posing for pictures. I know because I asked Francisco to try to get a shot of a yurts for you all. He asked an intermediary and was told it would offend them and although I think we can get a long distance shot without them knowing I am not going to do it against their will. I can’t chance offending them. Right now, we represent the Lord to them and I cannot mess that up. They are super suspicious of everything. They make a funny clacking sound when they speak their language which sounds distinctly Asian to me. I, in all of my whiteness freak them out. The children, about a 100 new ones are the only ones that look at me, always furtive measured glances, not meant for me to notice. When I turn to walk away I feel dozens of pairs of eyes drilling into my back. Much to my initial dismay, they won’t accept candy, which I am sure you agree, is usually an equalizer with children. In reading newsletters of other missionaries in the area I gather that two groups are claiming that they support these people with food and shelter. Sorry, but I can’t say that truthfully and I don’t believe that ANYONE is “supporting” them. Geez, in my experience if the kids won’t touch the candy the adults will be virtually impenetrable. This frustrated me for a few days. Now though, I just see it as the Lord protecting these people. They don’t need “SUPPORT” they need the WORD. Creating another people group DEPENDANT upon anything but the WORD is such an injustice. As you said, UR, unless a mission becomes a church family as the Lord desires it will only perpetuate the “welfare” mentality of most missionaries in Mexico. I mentioned in passing last week an incident with Francisco and another pastor, which escalated almost into physical violence. I have thought of it often and how contrary it is to the desire of Jesus for all of us to be in unity. I am stymied at times by the “middle wall” torn down by Christ, then re-erected by men which I think stands for denominationalism/religion. I remain amazed by man’s disposition to accept theories and traditions of men rather than the Word of God. The great gap between Truth and error, Christ and Satan seems to do nothing but intensify as days go by.

The Lord has shown me that I need to search my heart for all traces of religion and eradicate them before He will allow those people to hear me.

‘Opposition is the lot of all whom God employs to present the Truth unadulterated by religion. Between truth and error there will always remain an irrepressible conflict. Light and darkness cannot harmonize and to uphold and defend the one is to attack and overthrow the other. These are not ideals but kingdoms, my brothers and sisters. We need to regularly take inventory of which kingdom we belong to.

So I have no photos of cute little kids to show ya’ll this week. Just not time.

All goes well here. Francisco continues with what seems to be a never-ending stream of finish work in the kitchen. He and the kids also poured two giant columns that will support our porch soon. They are awesome. Francisco continues to be amazed at how the Lord enables him to do things he has never done, thus eliminating the need to pay a contractor! Yahweh is so willing to be in the midst of everything we do if we invite Him.

Francisco continues to grapple with keeping that healing of Typhoid, thankfully blood tests reveal that he is secreting less of the typhis now Praise God, although he still has pain which is insupportable at times.

We have come to time to renew our status as “non-profit” or apply for new status as a “religious” group which is what we are in the governments eyes. We are unwilling to take that name upon us but remain in prayer. We have no idea what it will cost to renew, but we need to check it out. With the government tightening up on its control of everything the protection that having the AC up to date offers is important but we hesitate to do anything out of anxiety or fear, better that it be prayerfully borne.

Salutations to everyone. We continue to pray for you all without ceasing. We have a couple coming in to detox Monday and we ask that you pray for the Lord to take them through withdrawals in a way that will cause Him to be glorified.

Love to all,

Deedee

Marilu’s Testimony-On Monday morning I was listening to Uncle Richard’s teaching CD on the computer while I was doing my chores. It was good, but the battery was about to go dead so I prayd and asked God to make the battery last and it did all the way to the end!

Ramon’s Testimony- When we went to the beach I stepped on a jellyfish and my toes got numb. I did not get out of the water I took authority over that venom and told it to “STOP.” And it did. THank you Jesus.

Missional Church

Description of a Missional Church

  • A missional church is one where people are exploring and rediscovering what it means to be Jesus' sent people as their identity and vocation.
  • A missional church is individuals willing and ready to be Christ's people in their own situation and place.
  • A missional church knows that they must be a cross-cultural missionary (contextual) people and adopt a missionary stance in relation to their community.
  • A missional church will be engaged with the culture (in the world) without being absorbed by the culture (not of the world). They will become intentionally indigenous.
  • A missional church understands that God is already present in the culture where it finds itself. Therefore, a missional church doesn't view its purpose as bringing God into the culture or taking individuals out of the culture to a sacred space.
  • A missional church is about more than just being contextual, it is also about the nature of the church and how it relates to God.
  • A missional church will seek to plant all types of missional communities.
  • A missional church is evangelistic and faithfully proclaims the gospel through word and deed. Words alone are not sufficient; how the gospel is embodied in our community and service is as important as what we say.
  • A missional church understands the power of the gospel and does not lose confidence in it.
  • A missional church will align all their activities around the missio dei -- the mission of God.
  • A missional church seeks to put the good of their neighbor over their own.
  • A missional church will give integrity, morality, good character and conduct, compassion, love and a resurrection life filled with hope preeminence to give credence to their reasoned verbal witness.
  • A missional church practices hospitality by welcoming the stranger into the midst of the community.
  • A missional church will see themselves as a community or family on a mission together. There are no "Lone Ranger" Christians in a missional church.
  • A missional church will see themselves as representatives of Jesus and will do nothing to dishonor his name.
  • A missional church will be totally reliant on God in all it does. It will move beyond superficial faith to a life of supernatural living.
  • A missional church will be desperately dependent on prayer.
  • A missional church gathered will be for the purpose of worship, encouragement, supplemental teaching, training, and to seek God's presence and to be realigned with God's missionary purpose.
  • A missional church is orthodox in its view of the gospel and scripture, but culturally relevant in its methods and practice so that it can engage the worldview of the hearers.
  • A missional church will feed deeply on the scriptures throughout the week.
  • A missional church will be a community where all members are involved in learning "the way of Jesus." Spiritual development is an expectation.
  • A missional church will help people discover and develop their spiritual gifts and will rely on gifted people for ministry instead of talented people.
  • A missional church is a healing community where people carry each other's burdens and help restore gently.
  • A missional church will requires that its leaders be missiologists.
Etymology of Missional

Definition: "Relating to or connected with a religious mission; missionary."

Part of Speech: Adjective. An adjective modifies a noun or a pronoun by describing, identifying, or quantifying words. An adjective usually precedes the noun or the pronoun which it modifies.

Etymology: From the word missionalism which is a noun meaning, "missionary work or activity."

First Usage: 1907 in W. G. HOLMES' Age Justinian & Theodora II. Page 687. Quote: "Several prelates, whose missional activities brought over whole districts and even nationalities to their creed" (emphasis added).

(Reference: Oxford English Dictionary)

Modern Usage: The first missiologist using the term "missional" in its modern understanding was Francis DuBose in his book, "God Who Sends" (Broadman Press, 1983). By the 1990's the term began to appear more and more in such books as "Missional Church: A Vision for the Sending of the Church in North America" (Edited by Darrell L. Guder) and the works of Lesslie Newbigin.

What a Missional Church is Not

  • A missional church is not a dispenser of religious goods and services or a place where people come for their weekly spiritual fix.
  • A missional church is not a place where mature Christians come to be fed and have their needs met.
  • A missional church is not a place where "professionals" are hired to do all the work of the church.
  • A missional church is not a place where the "professionals" teach the children and youth about God to the exclusion of parental responsibility.
  • A missional church is not a church with a "good missions program." The people are the missions program and includes going to "Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
  • A missional church is not about a new strategy for evangelism.
  • A missional church is not missional just because it is contemporary, young, hip, postmodern-sensitive, seeker-sensitive or even traditional.
  • A missional church is not about big programs and organizations to accomplish God's missionary purpose. This does not imply no program or organization, but that they will not drive mission. They will be used in support of people on mission.
  • A missional church is not involved in political party activism, either on the right or left. As Brian McLaren wrote, we need "purple peoplehood" — people who don't want to be defined as red or blue, but have elements of both.

What a Missional Church Looks Like

JR Woodward at Dream Awakener has a perspective on success that really helps my understanding of missional. His post "A Working Definition of Success" provides a working definition of what missional might look like. Here it is:

  • Not simply how many people come to our church services, but how many people our church serves.
  • Not simply how many people attend our ministry, but how many people have we equipped for ministry.
  • Not simply how many people minister inside the church, but how many minister outside the church.
  • Not simply helping people become more whole themselves, but helping people bring more wholeness to their world. (i.e. justice, healing, relief)
  • Not simply how many ministries we start, but how many ministries we help.
  • Not simply how many unbelievers we bring into the community of faith, but how many ‘believers' we help experience healthy community.
  • Not simply working through our past hurts, but working alongside the Spirit toward wholeness.
  • Not simply counting the resources that God gives us to steward, but counting how many good stewards are we developing for the sake of the world.
  • Not simply how we are connecting with our culture but how we are engaging our culture.
  • Not simply how much peace we bring to individuals, but how much peace we bring to our world.
  • Not simply how effective we are with our mission, but how faithful we are to our God.
  • Not simply how unified our local church is, but how unified is "the church" in our neighborhood, city and world?
  • Not simply how much we immerse ourselves in the text, but how faithfully we live in the story of God.
  • Not simply being concerned about how our country is doing, but being concern for the welfare of other countries.
  • Not simply how many people we bring into the kingdom, but how much of the kingdom we bring to the earth.

Well in Honduras

Greetings to All

I am so sorry that it has taken me so long to respond back to some of you. I just arrived back last night from Honduras. We had a great and blessed trip. It is so amazing to watch God's hand at work in so many lives.

There has been some that is wanting some more information about the the total dollar and how much had been donated as of this point. The well will cost $8,500.00 and the pump will be $4,000.00. The GRAND TOTAL IS $12,500.00. We will be saving about $4,000.00 by going ahead and doing it now because the man was in Zambrano with the equipment. We have had $2,500.00 to already come in on the project and WE THANK YOU ALL very much.

The work on the well is going very good at the point. When I left on Thursday they had worked on it already for 2 days. The well part should be completed by Friday or Monday.

If you would like to help and if you have already said you would help the address below will be where to send the money. The reason that we are having it sent to this address is because we would like to make sure that the total bill is paid. My Dad is still in Honduras and will return on Tuesday so I will be able to get you more information on the completion at that time.

I would like to take this time to say THANK YOU to the ones that have already helped. The contract was signed in total FAITH. The need is great and it is amazing to watch GOD'S people listen to that voice and obey. Sis. Sorto was so happy to know that she is getting this well. She told me the other day and things will be so much better. Once again let me say THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.

Sincerely
Pat Danley

Hard hearts

No Hard Hearts

"For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him."
(2 Chronicles 16:9)

The Pharisees had a heart condition that grieved Jesus. Their hearts were hard and insensitive. If you'll look in Mark 3, you'll see what I'm talking about.

God was right there in their midst and they, of all people, should have realized it. They knew the Scriptures backward and forward, and Jesus fit every messianic prophecy written there. But the insensitivity of their hearts literally blinded them to who He was.

The hearts of the Pharisees were also hardened to the needs of the people around them.

That very same thing is still happening today.

Just think again about what those Pharisees were doing. They were:

1. Criticizing the minister of God.

2. Protecting their religious traditions instead of obeying the Word of God.

3. Worrying about their own welfare rather than that of those around them.

Have you ever known any believers who fit that description? Sure you have! In fact, every one of us has done those things at some time in our lives.

Every one of us, to one degree or another, has fallen prey to the same mistake the Pharisees did. We've gotten so caught up in doing and saying all the "right" things that we've let the tender warmth of God's love inside us grow cold.

I know that's true because if it weren't, we'd be seeing tremendous moves of God among us. We'd be seeing revival on every corner.

That's what God longs to do. God longs to pour out His Spirit in supernatural power and abundance through His Church. But we've developed a heart condition that's holding Him back.

Today if you are desiring an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in your life and the manifestation of His power in your church, check the condition of your heart. If you find any hardness there, repent and ask God to change you. Ask Him to give you the kind of heart that will allow Him to show Himself strong on your behalf.

The Jesus Creed

The Jesus Creed

This creed was originally shared at the Emergent Convention, Nashville, May 2004.

By Brian McLaren

We have confidence in Jesus
Who healed the sick, the blind, and the paralyzed.
And even raised the dead.

He cast out evil powers and
Confronted corrupt leaders.
He cleansed the temple.
He favored the poor.
He turned water into wine,
Walked on water, calmed storms.

He died for the sins of the world,
Rose from the dead, and ascended to the Father,
Sent the Holy Spirit.

We have confidence in Jesus
Who taught in word and example,
Sign and wonder.
He preached parables of the kingdom of God
On hillsides, from boats, in the temple, in homes,
At banquets and parties, along the road, on beaches, in towns,
By day and by night.

He taught the way of love for God and neighbor,
For stranger and enemy, for outcast and alien.

We have confidence in Jesus,
Who called disciples, led them,
Gave them new names and new purpose
And sent them out to preach good news.
He washed their feet as a servant.
He walked with them, ate with them,
Called them friends,
Rebuked them, encouraged them,
Promised to leave and then return,
And promised to be with them always.

He taught them to pray.
He rose early to pray, stole away to desolate places,
Fasted and faced agonizing temptations,
Wept in a garden,
And prayed, “Not my will but your will be done.”
He rejoiced, he sang, he feasted, he wept.

We have confidence in Jesus,
So we follow him, learn his ways,
Seek to obey his teaching and live by his example.
We walk with him, walk in him, abide in him,
As a branch in a vine.

We have not seen him, but we love him.
His words are to us words of life eternal,
And to know him is to know the true and living God.
We do not see him now, but we have confidence in Jesus.

Amen.

Atheism

C. S. Lewis on Atheism

"When I was an atheist my argument against God was that the universe seemed so cruel and unjust. But how had I got this idea of just and unjust? A man does not call a line crooked unless he has some idea of a straight line. What was I comparing this universe with when I called it unjust? If the whole show was bad and senseless from A to Z, so to speak, why did I, who was supposed to be part of the show, find myself in such violent reaction against it?... Thus in the very act of trying to prove that God did not exist--in other words, that the whole of reality was senseless. I found I was forced to assume that one part of reality--namely my idea of justice--was full of sense. Consequently atheism turns out to be too simple. If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning."-C. S. Lewis (Mere Christianity).

Mistakes

"When you make a mistake, don't look back at it long. Take the reason of the thing into your mind, and then look forward. Mistakes are lessons of wisdom. The past cannot be changed. The future is yet in your power."

Letter from Baja Mission

Here I sit, basking in the Glory of the Works of Our Lord. I am sitting on the couch in the living room occasionally blessed by an ever- so- slight breeze coming off of our little niche of the Pacific. It has been a gorgeous

Day in every manner.

God is SO good. We are so thankful to Him for EVERY GOOD gift! Francisc and the kids re particularly grateful for His angels who have charge over His children. He was in heavy traffic on that dangerous strip of two lane highway that drops off into the valley coming South from Ensenada just clipping along doing about 50, when a micro-bus cuts in front of him and slams on thc brakes . Well, Frank is carrying the new stationary propane tank (full of propane) for the new church kitchen in a borrowed truck . He said everything went into slow motion when he hit his brakes and saw in the mirror this huge gas tank headed straight for his head. He said he saw it hit an invisible barrier and slowly sit back upright in the truckbed. He was very shaken up, and especially after seeing the huge impressions from the feet of the tank seemingly being sat down with great force, he was sure an angel had intervened. Thank you, Father. Donations of food for the center have started to trickle in, I need to get up to Riverside soon in order to see what the Food Bank there can help with. It is awesome that 15 years ago Francisco was in a Christian Home that donated their time and labor to that very Food Bank-even then the Lord knew what we would need, where we would be and what we would be doing.

Hey, that was interesting that you were able to get that info regarding the Kiliwa people, what is left of them , I should say. I believe that , right now, the preaching of the Word to these people is more important more urgent than ANYTHING else. It just DRAWS at us and seems imperative even to the point of putting off the feeding program if it interferes in anyway. Enough people appear to be interested in the feeding of the pueblo

governors is having a tremendous impact upon many facets of our lives. We have two very serious candidates for Baja Norte’s governor. Both are notoriously corrupt and the mud-slinging has begun in earnest each pot calling the other black. The ex-mayor of TJ,Jorge Hank is being accused of trafficking in the skin business while his opponent refutes accusations with each passing week as the people who rely so heavily upon the foreign economic influx that is just not coming in this year. The Fourth of July was a dismal failure for the locals. You would be happy to know, however that fish taco stands have sprouted up all along the little highway to the Bufadora. Finally. According to the latest census, Baja California Norte ranks as the RICHEST state in the Republic! The distinction, the gulf actually that exists between classes is SO very harsh. Each day the “GOLDCOAST” drops another 92 passengers off in Maneadero, weary men and women laden with babies and a stream of walking children behind them. They come from the poorest states: respectively Chiapas and Oaxca. That is roughly 700 people a week all moving into the area where the Lord has set us. Down by the greenhouses, they have begun to homestead, a pueblo of cardboard boxes is springing up, a “yurt” or two can be seen. These are ceremonial meeting huts made in a teepee like formation of beanpoles. Groups of men gravitate towards the yurts. We watch as a ready-made harvest field of souls sprouts up literally overnight. The women have a communal bathing system, where they all get naked along with the children and bathe outdoors of course. The women do not wear any garments other than a skirt over pants within the “homestead” area. So it is sort of like living in the jungle if you just focus on that. Pretty interesting. Rich farmland is being chopped into tiny lots marked with stark white lye. So much is happening so fast. With the new people coming into the area I feel a palpable excitement. I had been a bit discouraged thinking that maybe we needed to move further deeper into Mexico, but it appears the Lord is drawing His people to our area. Francisco has been accepted into this indigenous community and we thank God for the favor He has blessed him with. The Indigenous people are getting organized somewhat and starting to demand their rights. The abysmal American “Reservation System” is being copied believe it or not. A Pau-Pau Reservation has actually already been awarded setting a wild precedent for other tribes.

Marilu invited a little neighbor-girl over for a much hyped “sleepover” the other night. At bedtime Marilu said her prayers which baffled the little girl. Long story short, she led her first soul to Jesus. This angered the mother immensely and she has ceased speaking to us or allowing the child to play with Marilu. It is hard to see the pain she is going through, I mean she doesn’t understand.

I am sad to report that our oldest dog, Molly, who came to Mexico with us, was attacked by an animal two nights ago. Gallo and Boyo were in the melee as well. Molly was badly bitten by something quite large and she is hanging on to life by a thread. The kids have been praying for her and caring for her trying to make her comfortable. If she is not improved by tomorrow we will have to do something. Meanwhile I have her on penicillin and valium, lots of it.

Hey, the very day I spoke to you on the phone, we drove to town on the back roads to avoid the soldiers and that whole search thing and we saw a baby burro. It is so cute, can’t be more than a few months old. It is like 2 feet tall with ears a foot long. I am sending a picture. If we get one, we could always paint it like a zebra, take it to the beach with a poloroid and charge $5 a picture during tourist season. They do it in Tijuana. You know, just in case we want to help Yahweh. ha

I pray all is well with you all back there. Remember, Marcial goes in for his hernia surgery the 17th. Please keep him in prayer.

Our Doctor friend, Norma Prado was hospitalized for a planned surgery last month. It was supposed to be a simple procedure and she ended up with septicemia and almost died. She is my age and now has a colostomy bag. We have prayed for her salvation for years. Last year, she finally came to Jesus. She says that she knows she would have killed herself over the embarrassment of the colostomy bag before she met the Lord. She explained that now that she KNOWS that the Lord stands afar from the prideful she is shedding that pride in large quantities. She is doing well, but really needs everyone’s prayers for direction as she is considering going back in for elective surgery to connect her intestines and get rid of the bag. She just really needs to hear from the Lord on this and has asked for prayer.

Well, this is running rather long, as sitting in my perch upon this awesome mountain has the tendency to cause me to wax long and I am definitely waxing…..

Much Love,

sd

Apostolic prayer

Apostolic Prayer By Dr. Kluane Spake

When Solomon finished praying, a bolt of lightning out of heaven struck the whole burnt offering and sacrifices and the GLORY of GOD filled The Temple... (2 Chr. 7:1 MSG)

As eager new Christians, our little group somehow thought that we were responsible for praying for everything that happened everywhere in the world! We intensely and obsessively prayed – night and day. But, somewhere along the line we became exhausted with the burden of responsibility that somehow it all depended on us and how loud and long we prayed. Maybe we didn’t pray enough. Maybe how we asked wasn’t right? We didn’t realize that the Life of all Ages waits in total rest expecting us to find Him there! Why were we so worried?

Prayer is not overcoming God’s reluctance; it is laying hold of His highest willingness.

Archbishop Trench

As this new apostolic day dawns, we gain fresh insight on effective prayer that differs vastly from all that we’ve known in our past zealous experiences. And, as we all know, much opposition has come against this advance because there are always those who insist that Christians function from a position of powerlessness and entropy (death).

Remember, it’s possible to study the Bible like a Pharisee (who gained only head knowledge) and NEVER CONNECT with the Spirit of God (John 5:37). Unfortunately, it’s the same idea with prayer. Many of our prayers remain ineffective because they became just long shopping lists. We need to be set free from laborious prayers that spring from obligation and duty. Let us never again pray in rote and routine ways – or even overly loud and excessively long ways. As we are delivered from erroneous tradition and become renewed in the spirit of our minds our prayers change and become fully seasoned with Redemptive Truth.

Each new dispensation uncovers new extensions of insightful revelations that open new modes of spiritual access. For example, a different kind of prayer was offered in the patriarchal era than in the later Mosaic ritual. King David broke through with even more daring boldness. John the Baptist prepared the way with a greater capacity of prayer than previously seen. And now in this new dispensation, because of the perception of our potential to co-create, we discover a fresh extended range and intensity of prayer.

Let’s remind ourselves that the purpose of our prayer life is to intimately encounter a real Person and appre¬hend what He wants to impart. Divine communication happens during effectual prayer – especially when nothing is wrong. The goal is to touch God and His presence by connecting to His Divine purposes. Only then will we find His abundant LIFE that captivates us and vibrates through our every thought.

It all began for me the day that I realized that I personally wasn’t responsible to “stand in the gap” (Ezk. 22:30) like we had been taught. What a relief! The Old Covenant needed a person to stand in the gap, but not the New. A tremendous burden lifted when I found out that right this very minute Jesus stands in the gap – He is the Great Intercessor ever praying for us (Romans 8:16, Hebrews 7:25). He prays “FOR US” and that doesn’t just mean “in our behalf” (which is an awesome revelation in itself).

Yes, Jesus prays “for us!” And that actually means in our stead! (Selah! – Think about it!)

But that’s not all! The Holy Spirit also ever intercedes for us (Rom. 8:26). He “comes alongside” to connect with us as our prayer partner. The Holy Ghost intercedes with sighs beyond words as we are birthed through the veil and into the New Day. The Spirit prompts us to pray effectual fervent prayers (Jas. 5:15-16). The Holy Spirit en-LIGHTENS us with discernment, in-SIGHT, and meaningful gifts so that we might discern and speak our declarations and deliver our petitions correctly (Phil. 2:5; 1 Cor. 2:16).

Therefore, our part in His ministry of intercession becomes bold and accurate – never grievous or strained (Mat.11:30). The force and direction of God’s prayer is where we want to connect our focus. We need to stop praying “TO” God and start praying “WITH” Him. We combine forces with God to revolutionize that which He desires.

What is Jesus praying about? How does the Spirit pray? We don’t want to be asking for a building if we’re not supposed to have a church! What is God’s desire? The prayerful agreement with God’s intentions liberates and releases intentional synchronization that galvanizes the Holy Spirit into action (Acts 1:14, 2:1, 2:46). As we harmonize and synchronize our resolve with God’s objectives, the Holy Spirit enables us to deliver accurate and precise affirmations and profound proclamations that release the ascendancy of the Lord’s Kingdom over all the earth.

• The Hebrew word for “intercession” is paga and means “a chance encounter or an accidental intersecting.” Correct intercession intersects with God’s purposes and causes Divine intervention. The Lord intersects our ideas and plans with His.

The continual intercession and longings of both the Holy Spirit and Jesus toward us give us God’s desires (Psalm 37:4, 145:15 AMP). These desires become the passion of our yielded heart. These desires (that He gives us) conform to His will. Therefore, we can ask what we desire because our desires express His purposes. New Testament believers have been given the Spirit without limit (John 3:34); we can confidently pray in a supernatural co-laborship with our extraordinary God.

Prayer is the will of God pronounced through our effective petitions and thanksgiving. We connect and declare what God says.

A new determination must come upon us – to recapture the vital sense of God’s abiding presence and to reconnect in significant and passionate ways. We cry out to recaptivate that once familiar awe and wonder – the amazement and reality that God Himself ever lives IN us. He, the consummation of all things, inhabits us and ever intercedes for us... that we might find Him. Breakthrough prayer causes us to arise and return to Paradise and Garden co- existence. It is there that God searches within us to find the image and likeness of Himself – that which was His creative intention before the Fall. The God of the universe is looking for the God in us!

Successful prayer establishes God’s mentality and way of thinking. The force of prayer issues out of our inner being and conjoins our affections with His. We learn to reproduce His attitude (Eph. 1:15-20; 1 Thess. 1:1-3) and release His compassion (this word originally meant a womb-love yearning for life).

BREAKTHROUGH BY CONFESSION

Praying according to the Word is a valuable spiritual process that releases spiritual energy and force from untold dimensions. God’s Word (spiritual light) becomes the “cause” in a cause and effect relationship. This kind of prayer activates truth ALREADY imparted. We begin to perceive that God’s intentions are already accomplished in the heavenlies. Our job becomes one of pulling (decreeing, declaring) the spiritual realm into our dimension (on earth, as it is in heaven). The effective return (spiritual transaction) of “spiritual energy” provides answers, insight, visible miracles, and/or revelation.

We governmentally decree what God has pre- ordained from eternity past (Mic. 7:11, Ez. 6). We speak the Word of God upon all situations. It is not just verbalizing to God, but also a commanding of circumstance in accordance with His purposes. As we speak out the mind of God in prayer, we release angels to perform invisible functions that accomplish the Word.

BREAKTHROUGH BY EFFECTIVENESS

Accurate prayer causes God's Kingdom to exhibit on earth and in our lives as it already is in heaven. Remember, there are two things for which we don’t pray:

(1) It is absolutely useless and redundant to ask God to do what He already considers finished. Accurate prayer is stated from a finished position that comprehends the work of the cross as accomplished. Jesus did do what He promised to do.

The disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray (Luke 11:1). Jesus demonstrated actions and proclamations to the Father that specifically brought forth the reality of the Kingdom of God, not as a purely future anticipation, but as a certainty already prophetically (assumption of a future act as if presently existing or accomplished) present within His own words and Personhood.

(2) It is meaningless to ask God to do what He already assigned us to do. As His delegated ambassadors of the Kingdom, we cause heaven (the spiritual realm of existence where God is) to collide and invade with earth (this temporal existence). God chooses to use believers to bring forth His power, His presence and His Kingdom to bear upon this earth.

We call for His ways, His rules and His will. The Lord calls us to stand and declare from that place of completion and triumph. Nothing can stop us. We don’t live under the influence of a lie. We agree with God. Prayer speaks with full authority to decree God’s comprehensive and worldwide governmental victory over evil, religion, religious people, and racial and unequal men¬talities. Accurate prayer dismantles long standing rigid mindsets.

• The Lord of the universe knows what we need before we even ask. Jesus explained that the Father has already heard... BEFORE we pray (Jn. 11:41-42). It’s not a struggle.

• Prayer forcefully and creatively speaks things that are not into existence (Rom. 4:17). Prayer accesses the Lord’s distinctly pre-proclaimed eternal objectives and then speaks them – giving birth to His designs upon the earth. Prayer signals heaven that God’s foreordained purposes should now come forth. It is the nuclear missile aimed to shoot deeply into the regions that will discharge the Kingdom.

BREAKTHROUGH BY ENTERING REST

Our prayer time must become an anticipated restful time, rather than a legalistic burden. The most important time is when we spend MORE TIME LISTEN¬ING THAN SPEAKING – and when we do speak, our words are focused, innova¬tional, substantial, and resolute. Restful prayer opens the door to creativity and new ideas (Ps. 92:1-6). From a position of rest, we discharge God-given faith that severs every wicked situation.

Rest releases the living hope to know that there’s no expiration date on God’s promises. This kind of prayer refuses to beg or plead from a position of weakness; it easily demolishes old impotent ground. Rest yields decisive prayer that is eternal and it plows up the new ground in preparation for Kingdom domination.

Apostolic prayer declares God’s reality, order and organization over this world as it relates to our lives. Apostolic prayer restores dominion to the believer.

BREAKTHROUGH TO FIND WHOLENESS

Prayer is the cherished fellowship and communion with the Dream-Giver (2 Cor. 1:2-4). It guides us to destiny. Prayer is LIFE in God NOW. This powerful kind of praying ushers us into the power of love and a sound mind (2 Tim. 1;7; Dan. 6:10; 1 Pet. 5:7-8 AMP). Anything that resists Kingdom purposes must be illuminated and destroyed. A sound mind resists irrational “feelings” and adjusts our deficiencies, our defensive mind-set and wrong behavior. A sound mind chooses properly and makes correct and coherent decision - not desperate prayer requests. God waits to lead us into the fullness of mature Sonship.

BREAKTHROUGH TO RELEASE

Apostolic prayer relentlessly seeks specific miracles, answers, instructions, objectives, plans, actions, vision, etc. Victorious prayer (2 Cor. 2:14) gives us strength (Ps. 105:4, etc.) and confident expectation. Prayer renews us. Our words release authoritative rulership – and heaven responds. Breakthrough prayer penetrates the spirit realm and obtains wise answers that guide us (Phil. 4:4-6; 1 Thes. 5:17, 18, 23, 24, 28; Jam.1:5-8, 17).

With creative words, apostolic prayer makes authoritative declarations that take ascendancy over the present carnal system. The “true” Saints Movement is not about the believers taking over the church and replacing apostolic government, it’s about prayer showing the saints how to take over the world.

APPLICATION

Now, every time we pray, it is with decisiveness and a sense of targeted victory.

HOW: Pray with your spirit and your renewed MIND (1 Cor. 14:13-16). Pray without ceasing (Lk. 1:1). Pray for the widow (1 Tim. 5:5-6) and those things that must come forth for the sake of the Kingdom (Jn. 17:9-10, 20-21). Pray that those who sin will be given life (1 Jn. 5:16-17).

YOURSELF: Pray for personal direction and proper timing (Matt. 24:19-21). Pray that you escape evil (Luke 21:36), not fall into temptation (Matt. 26:41; Luke 22:40) and will do what is right (2 Cor. 13:7). Pray that you and others will be strengthened and established in love (Eph. 3:16-19). Pray for unity (Jn. 17:20-21). Pray that you and others can interpret tongues (1 Cor. 14:13-14). Pray always and don’t give up (Luke 18:1). Pray with joy (Phil 1:4) because you understand that God already knows what you need (Matt. 6:18). We pray for open doors and the know how to break through closed doors.

MINISTERS: We should pray for other ministries (Act 12:5, 12:17; 2 Thes. 1:3, 11, 12; 2 Thes. 3:1-5). Pray that their plans come to pass (Rom. 1:10). Pray that they be rescued from evil doers (Rom. 15:31; 2 Thes. 3:2). Pray that they might clearly declare the mystery of the gospel (Eph. 6:19-20) through open doors for the message (Col. 4:3-5). Pray that the message of the Lord spreads rapidly and is honored (2 Thes. 3:1-2). Pray that ministers have a clear conscience and live honorably in every way (Heb. 13:18-19). We don’t need to pray for the harvest, but to release (ekballo – the driving, expelling, thrusting plunging forward) the workers of the harvest (Luke 10:2).

OTHERS: Pray in the Spirit with all kinds of prayers for all saints (Eph. 6:17-18). Pray for others that they might share their faith and understand their inheritance (Phlm. 6). That they enjoy good health (3 John 2-3). That they would belong to God (Jn. 17:9- 10). That they would not do wrong and stand the test (2 Cor. 13:7). That they grow (Acts 27:29) and understand the power and inheritance in the saints (Eph. 1:18-21). That Christ dwell in their hearts through faith (Eph. 3:16-17) until they know the love of Christ and be filled with the fullness of God (Eph. 3:18-19). That they live a life pleasing to God (Col. 1:10-11). Pray for those who mistreat you (Luke 6:28-29). Elders pray for the sick (Jms. 5:13:16). Pray that others enjoy good health and that all goes well with them (3 John 2).

Pray that those who are persecuted be faithful (2 Cor. 6:4-10); that they have courage (Phil. 1:20) and are strengthened (Jn. 15:18-21). Pray that they have the strength to rejoice in the midst of circumstances (Matt. 5:10-12); that they be delivered and protected (2 Cor. 1:10-11); and that they are blessed (Lk. 6:22).

The law

Any commandment and teaching from the creator has accompanying grace

( empowerment to perform it) Any command or teaching from man has no accompanying grace but can only be accomplished thru labor and sweat.

Richard Chambliss

Mat 11: 27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knouted the Son, but the Father; neither knouted any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

28 Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
