Blessings to all of you from Mexico! Hope this finds ya’ll all doing okay.
As for me, I have finally made the adjustment to my new schedule. Here at 8 to serve lunch at 12, classes at 2 then home at 4. We are praying for someone who has the anointing to teach children as I don’t know how long I can keep up this pace, what with this in addition to homeschooling the kids and church and doing the shopping.
Pas. Clem and his group of radical grace receivers arrived Saturday with 600 lbs of beans rice and potatoes! Praise the Lord!! For about 4 years we have prayed that someone would take the responsibility of helping us stateside by picking up whatever we can get donated. Sis. Glenda found out about it and they jumped right in making the arrangements for a special pick up in Escondido CA.. This will help the program immensely! It is awesome to see people taking responsibility for what the Lord asked THEM to do regarding this ministry. It just saves so much time , gas money and tolls not having to go up there. And 600lbs of dry goods every 2 months is a HUGE help. I am still laughing thinking of Glenda’s neighbors watching little Glenda unload 600 lbs of beans into her garage. I am sure they are all gossiping and wondering when Glenda is starting her new “Set Free” home or bean distributorship……….Clem and Glenda remind me of “Pinky and the Brain” although I have yet to determine who is Pinky and who is Brain…Anyway, we had a nice visit and now I have plenty of potatoes to fry.
Spring is here, the trees are in bloom and all is rolling along without a hitch. The church is increasing (after a horrible exodus/decrease that practically killed us). We are now ministering almost exclusively to Oaxcans. The Lord has shaken everybody shakable out it seems. This group of people is causing us to learn to minister in a different way. For them, due to their childlike approach to everything, it all needs to be really clear and uncomplicated which is actually very nice. They see things as children just as the Bible said we should. Unfortunately some folks just don’t have the patience to stand by while you are doing that I guess. Sunday was really great though and though I know the Lord doesn’t live in a building anymore, the anointing is super charged over at the church! You will see. Even our Saturday visitors noticed it and they weren’t even here very long. I would so love to see them worship in their native language, did you have any success finding Oaxcan worship?
Of all things , guess what has made a comeback in Baja California?? I heard on the news that LEPROSY has taken hold of Baja with a vengeance and due to its contagious nature the government is talking about creating a “place” to put those who are infected. And I thought it had been eradicated for the most part. Again, living right here is very similar to living in the book of Acts.
In the month of January we had 18 feeding days, we fed 883 people(average 49.05 daily), I cooked 115 pounds of meat, 137 lbs of beans, 102 lbs of rice, 54 kilos of corn tortillas, 43 lbs of potatoes, we used 305 gallons of drinking water and assorted other veggies and whatnot. I try to make a giant sheet cake every other day for desserts, which I serve with liters and liters of Jell-O. We serve the same type of plate we have always served and you know that that is no chintzy little plate.I don’t know about you, but this amazes me totally. Keep in consideration that I am only spending $150 US dollars on groceries a week. Amazing isn’t it? Is God still in the miracle business or what????
Now at the same time that the program is coming along so well, the enemy has tried to discourage me with some really vicious and plain crazy gossip. If people could only realize that words are seeds that bear like fruit maybe they would chill out. Gossip is just so hurtful and no wonder He is so clear on His feelings with regard to it. Pray that I have the strength and patience NOT to react publicly at all because no good will come from that and I know that but it is just SO tempting to try to handle it in the natural…By the way, we received your package and it was quite timely, I enjoyed the George Pearsons Leadership cds in particular.
This past week, an eight year old girl that we knew in passing was killed. Only the Lord knows why, but Frank was right there when she died. One of the blue microbuses stopped on that big curve where our dirt road meets the highway and let the little girl off of his bus. An American fellow, in his 30’s hit her doing about 45mph. He never had a chance to brake and she never knew what had happened. Frank happened to be pulling onto the highway there when it happened. He stopped to try to help, and when he got home he was very upset by all that he had seen. He was saddened about the girl but also saddened that the young man had been taken to prison to await an automatic fine and prison sentence to be awarded in proportion to the judge’s estimate of the value of the child’s lost life. Under the Napoleonic system of justice prison time is mandatory for the causation of an accident causing mortal injury. I have attempted to understand the Lord’s Purpose in all of this over the past few days and must admit I do not get it. I do however understand better MY purpose right here. More than ever I understand the importance of what the Lord is doing through us. Sometimes I wonder if we are really doing anything important for the Lord at all, with our little church and its little outreach to these children, but this tragedy helped me to refocus on what is important. You see, that little girl knew us, there are just SO many kids that truthfully I can not tell you her name, but she knew us. She had eaten at the church a couple of times and she had attended our Christmas Party. I have peace because I KNOW that if she was around us at those times then she DEFINITELY heard about Jesus and she DEFINITELY knew how to pray because we teach that EVERY TIME we minister be it with piƱatas and gifts or with lunch. The Lord reminded me that THAT is why we are here-to preach the Good News first and foremost. Sometimes it feels like not much but it could be the difference between heaven and hell for anyone we come in contact with. That is humbling. Each one of us in the Church of Our Lord Jesus has that very same responsibility wherever the Lord has planted us.
We are looking forward to your arrival in March; I am working on your transportation and will let you know what I work out. I should let you go, I have been horrible about emailing and have to catch up.
Much Love and many blessings,
