From Mexico

Dear UR,

I see by my pop-up that Memphis is experiencing a severe weather alert. Ya'lls weather is so darn exciting. I have to tell you we had an awesome magnificent time yesterday in the Lord. Frank and I both opened our eyes about 10 minutes into worship, which remains fairly short, to the awesome sight of every chair full, about 40 PLUS people were just standing in the aisle and outside! We had to set out ALL of our chairs. (55) Kids had to sit on the floor. Not one of these people, many of whom we have NEVER seen, before had been "invited" by us or anyone! Not even one of them was what could be called a "typical" Mexican person, they were all indigenous people, from the states of Chiapas and Oaxaca. Most spoke very little to absolutetly NO Spanish. They were beautiful , the women dressed in traditional colorful skirts, all with a brown baby strapped snugly in a brightly colored "rebozo" over their backs. More than half the congregation wore no shoes by choice. A good half breast fed a child during the message. I had 31 children under 8 in "Children's Church", back in the kitchen. We set up 3 long tables in addition to the big prep table to accommodate the children. Honestly, I was overwhelmed at the idea of teaching that many children, more than half who did not understand Spanish yet. Not one child cried or even whimpered.
Strangely enough and prof that we war against a real enemy, two women with children were sitting under our bedroom window when their voices awoke us both at 4:30am. As Frank spoke to them and they told a tale of woe and needing to get to the bus depot IMMEDIATELY, I peered thru the window into the fog and saw not ordinary women but grotesque parodies of women. Their faces seemed to morph and distort before my eyes and Frank could not see it. He felt extremely pressured to give them a ride immediately although the buses do not run until 9:30am on Sundays. Finally after much discussion he decided to take a shower and and take them. It was about 6:30 by then. I prayed while he showered, just a simple prayer. When he got out of the bath, they were totally GONE. I cannot explain this but we both know that if he had gone with them, he would not have made it back, to church for sure, and maybe never. they had been sent as a total distraction, as instruments of strife. So praise Jesus, they fled.
This is the Lord you guys. Frank dreamed of this a couple of weeks ago and you prophesied great growth during your visit. Frank was weeping so that he had difficulty speaking when he first took the pulpit and he ended up washing Marcial's feet. It was a true blessing that I wish you could have enjoyed first hand.
Two families that came for the first time yesterday also came to the mission house today and the mission was noisy with the voices of many many children!
Upon returning from church yesterday we found 100 lbs of beans, 100 lbs of rice, 50 of potatoes, 25 of sugar and about $300 worth of staples for the kitchen.
Thank you to all of you who support us in prayer and with sacrificial giving. The Lord flows through you to make it possible for us to be here and we are constantly aware of your generousity, may you be blessed and prospered, in Jesus' name.
Blessed be our God, for ever and always...Yahweh is His Name.
Love, Frank and Deedee
